Goals from Mark Campbell and Alan Ward today saw off the challenge from Tipperary Town, Played in terrible conditions which were near impossible to string a few passes together it was always going to be a close encounter and so it proved with our winner coming 10 minutes from the end. We started the first half very well and should of went in at half time 3 goals up. Our first goal came from a corner that Tipp town failed to clear and Mark Campbell meet the ball on the half volley to see his strike hit the crossbar and go in. With a strong wind we were very dominant in the first half and should really have scored more. The second half started with us under pressure from the Tipperary team aided by a strong wind. There pressure eventually paid off with a fantastic goal coming from the best player on the wing who curled it into the top corner leaving sweeney no chance in goal. It looked as though we would have to settle for a draw as we didnt create many scoring opportunities until substitute Dean o mahoney on his debut got to the end line and crossed for Alan ward who finished well as he drove the ball into the corner of the net on the half volley to everyones relief. There was one last scare for us though as in the final minute Tipp Town missed a guilt edge chance again to everyones relief. Next up is possibly the biggest game of the season as we host Dualla in a top of the table clash next sunday at 3pm.

Its a cliche often used but today match's are the ones that win you a league and today the lads showed how much they wanted to do exactly this with a fantastic win. A gritty performance from a very much improved Cullan team that made life hard for ourselfs today. Credit to Cullan as a club must also be mentioned as today we played on there second pitch and its the most grass we have seen on a pitch in recent weeks and held up well throughout the entire game. The game started in unfamiliary fashion because for once we went ahead after 10 minutes to our surprise as we have become accustomed to always conceding the first. The goal came from Tony ward playing Mike halley throught for him to beat his man and lay off the ball to Craig Carrigan who crossed to the Free scoring Darren Sweeney. Soon after we were hit with a sucker punch when some excellent defending that pushed cullan out to 35 yards left the ball to there winger who curled a ball into the top corner which no one could do anything about. We were then forced to make an early change when Coffey was replaced by John Darmody through injury. The rest of the half that seen us play against a strong wind and create some good chances only for some good goal keeping from the Cullan netmider to keep the side level. No one could predict what would happen in the second half after Sweeney punished a mistake from the keeper to put us ahead only to be giving a second yellow for 'diving' when clearly to everyone that attended the game it was a penility. We had to pick ourselves up from this sending off only for Tony ward to see the line soon after for 2 yellows again, the first which he recieved for 2 cullan players running into eachother and tripping eachother up! Amazing decision making once again i Must add!!!! 2 VERY WRONG sendings off that could of cost us a chance a league title, sometimes you have to wonder do people take into consideration the results of their actions and decision making!!!! But to the players credit they didnt bow down to these shocking decisions and battled out to win the game and send us joint top of the league! Noting but a win today for us was needed to keep a push for promotion and that exactly what we got with a well deserved 4 - 2 victory over Peake villa in a game played in terrible conditions that made life very difficult for both teams to play good football. As always when we come up against Villa we expected a good honest fight from them and with both teams looking for promotion that's exactly what we got from the Thurles team, The trend of late seems to be we go 1 - 0 down early on, today that was no different but playing against a gale force wind in the first half we always new that if we could stay within touching distance the second half we would a have advantage. We levelled the game 20 minutes in through free scoring Sweeney who got on the end of the impressive Aaron Cowans cross. Just before the break though Peake Villa scored directly from a corner that our keeper could do noting about with the wind getting the assist. We re grouped at half time and the second half was a much different game with ourselfs creating most of the chances. 10 minutes into the second craig carrigan who has made a great impact since signing went to clear the ball from the centre of the pitch for it amazingly to catch the wind and travel almost 60 yards into the back of the Villa net, this drove us on and the confidence in our game was back, soon after Alan ward done well on the wing and crossed for Sweeney to finish well with a good header which takes him to a personal goal tally of 32 so far. 3 - 2 and you would imagine we would fall back and defend but the opposite could be said, Steven went with 5 in midfield as Tony Ward came on the settle things down with some good passing as we still seemed to be creating the better chances and 5 minutes from time Andy Hickey got on the end of another cross from Alan Ward to finish well into the bottom corner of the net. A huge win for us and after our 2 defeats in a row we have now responded well with 6 pts from 2 games. Lets keep the push for promotion on... Well done to everyone involved today.

This was a massive game for us in terms of the league and the 3 points were vital in our hopes for promotion. Bansha started the brighter and had two good chances in the early exchanges, As the game settled we created some half chances but on 30 mins Bansha pounced on a defensive error to go 1 up. Suirside looked flat and were happy to hear the half time whistle blown. almost from the restart the worst happened when Bansha increased their lead to 2 - 0. This could have seen us drop our heads but once again the stong character of the team came out and we upped our game and dominated the remainder of the game. The comeback started when Darrren Sweeney scored a penalty which gave us hope that there was a comeback on, 5 minutes later from a Alan Wad corner Neil Carey scored a thundering header to tie the game up level at 2 -2. We went ahead through Andy Hickey when he finished inside the box with 10 minutes remaining to the delight of everyone. With 3 minutes remaining from an Alan Ward free kick that the keeper couldn't hold Darren Sweeney got his foot to it to make it 4 -2 and a fantastic comeback from ourselves which keeps us in the race which now seems to look like a 3 horse race for promotion. Next up is league leaders Peake Villa at home at 12 this coming sunday.

A game that should of never got the go ahead on an account of the conditions that puts into question the decision from the referee to play it as questionable at best! Missing 6 of our squad and travelling the long distance to Slieveardagh was never going to be an easy game for us and so it proved with a loss by a single goal. Slieveardagh had the better exchanges in the first 20 minutes and scored from a cornor, we settled into the game and the final 25 minutes of the first half was a very even contest. On 50 minutes some nervous play that didn't allow us to clear the ball on the edge on the box allowed Ian Ivors to have a shot on outside the box that goalkeeper Alan Sweeney got a finger tip to but was unlucky not to save. Almost straight away Alan ward sent a long pass to Rencontre who beat a defender a finished well to the far top cornor which gave us something to fight for at 2 - 1. 5 minutes later a mix up between defender and goalkeeper allowed Sliveardagh to score into a open goal and go 3 - 1 ahead. We pushed and went with 3 up top and got a goal when Jason Coffey crossed a ball to Andy hickey who finished well with the outside of the boot. We pushed on in the last 5 minutes but persistant time wasting the went unpunished from the referee on many occasions ment that time ran out for us. 2 defeats on the trot now for us and we hope to get everyone back for a big league game this weekend at home to Bansha.

Another cup game today, this being the third and fourth division shield better known as the Peter o Reilly shield. For probably the first time this season we had a fully fit squad to pick from and although some didn't make it there is a long season ahead to look forward to. In fairness to Dualla they were missing a good few of their starting team today in a game that we dominated possession, saying that we could of gotten off to a bad start when a mix-up at the back wasn't punished and we got lucky. That was probably the only chance we gave away today with a solid performance from the back four. Our first goal came from a free that Alan Ward crossed in and Cully Nugent rose above everyone to put us ahead. Soon after Ward played Rencontre through and he finished well to give us a two nil lead at half time. The second half started in the same fashion with us applying some good pressure and creating many opportunities that could of put the game to bed.Eventually though our third did come when substitute Thomas Maher played an excellent reverse pass to Andy Hickey which fooled the Dualla defense and Hickey made no mistake with a good finish on the outside of his boot. We wont be in action at all next week so as soon as the fixtures for the following week are up they will be put onto the website. Well done to everyone involved in a good win today and lets hope we can keep this good run going.

A 7 goal thriller today, that in the end we made very difficult for ourselfs by allowing Peake Villa to level it at 3 all when we were 2 goals up. Once again though the battling sprit that we have showed through again and we went on to get all 3 points to keep us unbeaten and top of the 4th division. The game started with us playing some good football and dominating possession in the early exchanges and our pressure paid off when some excellent trickery down the left from the impressive John o Donnell saw him square to mike Halley who made no mistake from close range. Peake Villa were always a threat and soon after hit the crossbar from a free, and they soon got the equalizer after Tommy saved a shot from outside the box the rebound fell to a villa player and he finished with ease. Almost straight away we were on the attack again and after a cross from Sweeney was cleared, the ball fell to Jason Coffey at the edge of the box and he meet the ball perfectly on the half volley to finish into the bottom corner. Before half time Villa had another opportunity from a free giving away by us on the edge of the box but Tommy saved the resulting header. The second half started with us trying to play the ball our from the back and some great passing between John o Donnell, Alan Ward and Sweeney seen the latter played through only to be taken down in the box, A penalty resulted and Sweeney scored to give us a 3 - 1 lead. With us seemingly costing through the rest of the half what followed came as a shock as Sweeney and Carey came off injured for Paddy Moss and Mark Campbell and we conceded two goals in a crazy 10 minute period. Tony Ward replaced Mike Halley and settled down the game with some good interceptions and we almost scored when he played Jason Coffey through down the right and his cross was inches away from Rencontre boot to finish. With the game looking like a draw David Rencontre popped up at the edge of the box and riffled home a volley into the top corner of the net leaving the keeper no chance. We held out for the last few mins for a well deserved victory.

A game that in the early stages of the league that can be said was vital in both teams hopes for promotion saw a draw today. Slieveardagh will count themselves unlucky as they had two very good chances in the first half.We started well but it was the visitors that dominated a scrappy first half of football.Needless to say we were happy to hear the whistle for half time. The second half started in the same fashion and soon Slieveardagh went one nil up with a great goal coming from Ian Ivors. That goal seemed to give us the wake up call we needed and almost straight from the restart David Rencontre pounced on a long ball played through, unfortunately Michael ivors dispossessed him and it went for a corner, from the corner Darren Sweeney gathered the ball at the edge of the box and finished to everyone's delight. The rest of the game didn't see many opportunities for both sides. A very tough hard fought game for both teams and who knows how vital this point might be come the end of the season.

Our first game in the tipp cup ended with a comprehensive 7-0 victory, Goals came from Darren Sweeney (4) Andy Hickey (1) Paddy Butler (1) John o Donnell (1). With a few injuries and a good few away this looked like a tough tie, but the strength of our squad came through today with excellent performances all around the pitch, first goal came from a kick out that caught celtics defence off guard, sweeney crossed perfectly for Andy hickey to make it 1-0, next up was John o Donnell with some good footwork in the box, and he finished well to the bottom corner the third goal came from a defensive mix up at the back which was punished by sweeney to make it 3-0. Sweeney got his second when good work from Mike Halley down the right saw him square it to sweeney who faked on his left and put it on to his right foot to make it 4-0, his hatrick soon followed when his persistent work saw him dispossess the defender and cooly finished to make it 5-0, paddy butler then got on the scoresheet when a good ball from Alan ward put him through and his brilliant finish made it 6-0. Sweeney wasn't finished yet when he beat 2 players and then took it around the keeper to get his fourth of the day and his 21st goal in 8 games.
Next is Slieveardagh in the league next Sunday in Ardfinnan at 3pm...

We created history today with our first bit of silverware. A tense game that we shaded in overall play saw us have to wait until the 88minute to get the winner, and what great scenes that followed. To be fair we have yet to start a game with a full strength squad to pick from and today was no different. The first half saw us create numerous chances only to be flagged offside every time! the only other chances came from a corner that Thomas maher was unlucky not to finish and a solo run from sweeney that seen him nuts a defender and unfortunately his shot came off the crossbar. We kept dualla to a few half chances throughout the half. The second half was a tense affair that saw both teams reduced to the odd half chance. Both teams reduced to the made subs in anticipation of extra time when incredibly a dualla defender got the ball tangled up between his feet and the ball feel to sweeney who finished with ease. The rest as they say is history..........

Our interest in the Munster ended today with a deseved victory from a good Cullan Lattin team that is sure to push for promotion in Division 1 this season. Before the game had even started we were dealth a blow with the loss of Jason Coffey through injury that will keep him out of action for a few weeks. We started the game brightly and had a very good chance to go 1 up when Darren Sweeney squared to Johnny Condon mishit his effort, The visitors then scored from a free kick with the Suirside wall coming into question on this attempt, Further bad news came when after saving the first effort Tommy seen the rebond go to a Cullan Lattin player who finished from 6 yards. Half time followed and some time for Steven to change things up. We started the second half and almost straight away Cullan finished the game off with there 3rd goal coming 10 seconds after the restart. After that we came together a bit more and started to play very well and created some good chances that we really should have scored from to be honest, eventually we got what we deserved when Alan Wards cross/shot fell to Darren Sweeney who finished to make it 3 - 1. Alot of heart can be taken from this game as we kept going till the end and although this competition was never high on our list its always nice to have a good cup run. Hopefully this game can drive us on now for the rest of the season.

- A win in Bansha today keeps us unbeaten so far and top of the league at the moment. A hatrick from Darren Sweeney and a fine goal from Alan Ward saw us run out 4 - 2 winners on the day. A game that was realistically over after the first half with a great half that saw us score 4 goals and saw Bansha finding it hard to keep with us. The first goal came from Alan Ward when he scored a fine overhead kick from the 6 yard box, the second came shortly after with ward involved again setting up Darren Sweeney to see him cooley finish past the keeper. Bansha soon replied when good work from there striker seen him beat our defence and score. On 35 mins Jason Coffey played a good through ball to Sweeney and the in form striker made no mistakes to score his second of the day. On 40 minutes we ended it as a contest when some good defending from a Bansha cornor saw us counter quick and Alan Ward found Sweeney with a long pass, Sweeney beat a defender and rounded off his hatrick in style. The 2nd half in reality was just a case of playing out the game with not much created at either end, although Bansha did pull 1 back with 20 minutes left on the clock. Not the best performance of the season to date but we still got the 3 points which is all the counts early in the season. Well done to everyone involved again today. Next game is the Munster Juniour Cup against Cullan Lattin A at HOME so we hope to see a good crowd again.

- A hard fought victory sees us advance to shield final, A game that can be described as wholehearted from both sides with the result coming down to Tommy Sweeneys heroics in the penalty shoot out that seen him save 3 in a row. The game started at a high tempo with the home side playing some good attacking football that was causing us lots of problems and our poor start to the game was punished when the home side scored a good curling effort leaving Sweeney no chance. On 15 mins we were dealt a blow when Tony Ward had to be replaced through injury which made us reshuffle the team, Eoin Ahern his replacement. Soon after we replied with some good work down the left from the hard working Alan Ward saw him play Darren Sweeney through to the end line and he squared across goal to see Andy Hickey finish. About 5 mins before half time some poor play from us seen the ball intercepted coming out from the back that Peake Villa pounced on to make it 2 - 1 at the break. The second half seen a good reponce from the team and in the first 20 minutes we should have scored 2 or 3 goals. With us now in control some good footwork from Darren Sweeney saw him fouled inside the box and he scored the penalty to draw us level. The rest of the half wasnt much to remember with both teams having the odd half chances. Extra time followed and although we always looked like the one that were going to score Peake Villa to their credit defended excellently and brought in to the dreaded Penalties. Alan Ward, Jason Coffey and Darren Sweeney all scored in our first 3 and the hero of the day Tommy Sweeney incredible saved all 3 of the home sides penalties to see us progress to the shield final. Results like today show that when we are put to the test their is a steeliness determination to the team that will serve us well for the season.

- On a very windy day that made playing good football very difficult we came out on top with a solid performance and 3 more points, goals from Oisin Flynn, Darren Sweeney and Jason Coffey keep us unbeaten so far in the league. Also noted that it was our first clean sheet of the season with a very solid defensive performance when pressure was applied to the team in the second half against a gale force wind. Playing with the wind in the first half saw us apply the majority of the pressure but only for an exellent save from Tommy Sweeney after 10 minutes we could have been 1 down. In the 28 minute after a succession of corners that saw Neil Cary come close twice, Oisin O Flynn tapped in our first goal of the day from 2 yards, 5 minutes later Mark Campbell was fouled 30 yards out, Darren Sweeney rifled the ball into the top corner of the goal leaving the keeper no chance a fantastic goal. 2 minutes before the break Oisin Played a pass the Jason Coffey on the edge of the box and he finished it low and hard into the bottom corner. The second half saw us start very well and within 10 minutes we should have been 5 - 0 ahead. The rest of the game saw us drop deeper into our own half and soak up pressure but to the lads credit they defended brilliantly, Thomas lonergan came on for Andy Hickey on 65 mins as we went to a 5 man midfield, John Carroll replaced Tony Ward on 70 mins to give us fresh legs on the wing and Mike Hally replaced Aidan o Donnell on 75mins. Tipp Town to there credit never gave in and kept pressing up until the ref blew the full time whistle.

- A great performance from the lads saw them convincingly win 8 - 1 in their first home game in front of a big home sport. The game was only 5 minutes in when a defensive slip up allowed Cullan to take the lead, However 3 minutes later Darren Sweeney picked the ball up on the edge of the box and coolly finished past the keeper to level up the sides. With Suirside now controling the game from a Alan Ward corner Cully Nugent rose to put us 2 - 1 ahead on 19 minutes. Just After the break some good work from Darren Sweeney saw him bet the defender and pass the ball across the box for Andy Hickey to finish on 46 minutes. Suirside then really started to dictate the game and from some good play bringing the ball out from the back Jason Coffey saw his Shot from 25 yards go into the cornor of the net on 50 minutes. on 57 minutes Anthony Condon replaced Thomas Lonergan. Next to get in on the scoring was Tony Ward who saw his free kick go around the wall and put us 6 -1 up on 75 minutes. Mike Hally replaced Eoin Ahern on 76 minutes. Darren Sweeney beat 2 defenders and finished passed the keeper on 77 minutes, On 80 minutes some good play from Anthony Condon Saw his cross met by Andy Hickey, straight after the break Paddy Butler replaced Andy Hickey. Darren Sweeney got his hatrick on 86 minutes when Anthony Condons good run result in him passing it across the box for sweeney to finish and make it 8 -1. Overall it was a great performance from the team but there is still a lot of improving to be done over the season, lets hope we can make our home pitch a tough place to come and play for everyone over the season.

- First game of the season and it had everything, goals, bookings, dismissals, offsides, but most importantly a victory! Going to play a team that competed very well in the 1st division last year was always going to be a birth with fire for the team and they came through it convincingly. The game started at a very high tempo with both teams looking nervous to keep hold of the ball, as the game went on thought it became evident that both teams had completely different philosophy on how to play the game, suirside tried to play the ball out from the back where as Slieveardagh choose to try and catch us out with the long ball tactic. The host opened the scoring when some good play down there left wing resulted in the ball being crossed in where the striker finished with a good header, soon after Darren Sweeney replied finishing inside the box low across the keeper, Alan Ward with the assist. We went 2 - 1 up from an Alan Ward corner, Neil Carey rose above everyone to finish with a powerful header, Suirside Again though like the game it was the fighting sprit of Slieveardagh say them draw level with a quick taking free kick that caught our defence off gaurd to allow them to make the game 2 - 2 just before the break. After half time the game started in the same fashion with both team battling hard, thought they would go 3 - 2 up when some good work from Darren Sweeney resulted in him winning a penility, unfortunately though the shot went high and over the bar. Thomas Lonergan replaced Anthony condon on 54 mins, Soon after Jason Coffey made a surging run from his own half betting 2 to lay a pass to Andy hickey whos first shot was saved but from the resulting save he managed a delicate lob over the keeper to the delighted of all the players. Eoin Ahern came on for Tony Ward on 65 mins as suirside tried to make themselfs more compact at the back. Jason Coffey then had 2 or 3 runs at the Slieveardagh defence only to be hacked down every time and resulting in no punishment whatsoever, Mark Campbell replaced Andy Hickey as we went 5 in midfield for the last 15 mins and this proved to be the winning of the game as he really settled things down and took some pressure off the team. With 4 mins remaining a unfortunate incident took place involving 2 players one from suirside and one from slieveardagh which resulted in both being sent to the line. The ref then decided that a few more painful minutes had to be played but in fairness to the lads the held out for a great opening day win.
